The Library is officially hiring Student Assistants for Fall 2017!
Do you spend a lot of time in the Library? Would you like to trade that time for a paycheck instead of completed coursework? If you’ve ever wondered why you cannot re-shelve your own books, and why many of the Library books have more decimals than πi, this job is for you.
WHAT WE NEED
Previous customer service experience preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, and library electronic resources.
Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Able to multi-task and respond well to interruptions.
Ability to use technology effectively and to adapt to technological and organizational change.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Performs circulation desk procedures such as checking materials in and out, registering patrons, answering telephones, collecting fines, and answering reference questions.
Shelves library materials and organizes library stacks.
Assists patrons with basic research help and refers patrons to appropriate library/university personnel when appropriate.
Additional tasks as assinged by supervisors.
HOW YOU WILL GROW
Further develop your research and computer skills. Turn your basic knowledge applications (office, Google Apps for Education) into marketable skills on your resume.
Work as part of a team where each member has important, specialized jobs.
Potential to use your talents and interests to serve the Jessup community (and thereby get them on your resume).
Opportunity to learn specialized Library skills.
Work with staff whose ultimate goal is furthering your development educationally, vocationally, and spiritually.
