JOE’s Intern positions are a part of the student leadership program here at Jessup. JOE Interns have the privilege to impact the student experience within various focus areas. As a part of their position, Interns will have the opportunity for leadership development in the areas of administration, change management, communication, event planning, marketing, mentorship, supervision, programming/program development, and research, as well as experience working individually and collaboratively in a team environment.

There are multiple Program Coordinator level intern positions available focusing on the following areas:

 	Campus Life and Jessup Traditions (2)
 	Commuter Programs (2)
 	First-Year Transition Programs
 	Intramurals/Recreation Programs (2)
 	Orientation Programs (2)
 	Student Experience Programs (2)
 	Transfer Programs
 	Welcome Programs

For our Discover Intern Focus Areas (bolded above), the JOE’s Intern hiring process takes place at the end of the Fall term so they can shadow current interns during Spring Warrior Welcome and have input in the planning for the next academic year programming.

JOE Discover Intern, First-Year Programs
  • Assist in the recruiting, training and supervision of Captains and Discover Ambassador staff.
  • Assist in the research, development, and implementation of Discover program and other First Year programs and events, including an opportunity to have input in the Discover course curriculum and syllabus.
  • Help provide oversight of and manage logistics for Discover groups.
  • Serve as Fall and Spring Welcome staff by developing and implementing activities, workshops etc. bringing attention to the needs of First Year Freshmen students.
JOE Discover Intern, Orientation Programs
  • Assist in the recruiting, training and supervision of JOE staff.
  • Assist in the research, development, and implementation of Orientation weekend and Jessup 101 (Online Orientation) transition programs and events.
  • Manage external logistics and marketing/communication of Orientation weekend and Jessup 101 as it pertains to new student needs.
  • Serve as Fall and Spring Welcome staff by coordinating logistics, scheduling, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of activities, workshops etc.
JOE Intern, Experience Programs
  • Assist in the recruiting and training of JOE staff.
  • Assist in the development and administration of the Jessup student experience.
  • Assist in the research, development, and implementation of Sophomore and Senior experience programs and events.
  • Serve as Fall and Spring Welcome staff by developing and implementing processes that aid in a seamless student experience.
JOE Discover Intern, Transfer Programs
  • Assist in the recruiting, training and supervision of Discover Ambassador staff.
  • Assist in the research, development, and implementation of Transfer programs and events.
  • Provide oversight of and manage logistics for Discover TLC (transfer learning community) groups.
  • Serve as Fall and Spring Welcome staff by developing and implementing activities, workshops etc. bringing attention to the needs of transfer students.
JOE Intern, Campus Life
  • Assist in the recruiting and training of JOE staff
  • Assist in the development and administration of Jessup traditions and annual events.
  • Develop avenues for student voice into co-curricular programs through C’LAB (CampusLife Activities Board) and to promote student engagement campuswide and assist in the research, development, and implementation of engagement programs and events.
  • Serve as Fall and Spring Welcome staff by developing and implementing processes and activities that aid in a seamless student experience and promote new student engagement.
JOE Intern, RecLife Programs
  • Assist in the research, development, and implementation of Intramural and Recreation programs and events.
  • Provide oversight of and manage logistics for Intramurals and Recreation activities and events.
  • Serve as Fall and Spring Welcome staff by promoting engagement in the Jessup student experience, especially bringing attention to Intramural and Recreation opportunities.
JOE Intern, Commuter Life
  • Assist in the research, development, and implementation of Commuter programs and events.
  • Work collaboratively to promote commuter student engagement in the Jessup student experience.
  • Serve as Fall and Spring Orientation staff by developing and implementing activities, workshops etc. bringing attention to the needs of commuter students.

 

*Other JOE’s student leadership positions include JOE’s Captains, Discover Ambassadors and Program Interns in focus areas such as Campus & Community Life, Intramurals & Recreation, Student Experience who will be selected during the annual student leadership application process during the Spring Semester.
